November…That’s A Wrap! @SaturnMuscle #PoweredBySaturnSupplements

It’s the end of Novemeber!?!?!?!?

It has been so warm here it is hard to believe it will be winter in a few weeks. We had a fabulous Thanksgiving. Hope you all did too πŸ˜‰ I decided to not have my weekly check. Seemed pointless, since I went off of plan for a couple of days. We had so much amazing food! I definitely enjoyed myself πŸ˜‰ We also are all decorated for Christmas!

Main goals for November were to try to get settled in and just relax. We really needed a stress free month. I wish I could say it was totally stress free, but life happens ha ha ha.

Biggest stress this month have been Josh’s car breaking down. Obviously we just moved, so funds for Christmas are tight. We truly could not afford a break down. We prayed and God blessed us with a mechanic who was willing to come to us and repair the car for a 3rd of what the other area mechanics were wanting to charge! The other stress is the issues going on in Ferguson, Missouri. I grew up in different households in two different areas. One was my parents and many friends who took me in, in the suburbs of O’Fallon, Missouri. The other a small house in Bel-Ridge just outside of Ferguson. I spent my childhood in the city and my teen years in the burbs. It hurts my heart to see all the hate on social media coming from both sides and the violence and destruction of the city I grew up in and loved. Been hard to sit back and watch. All I can do is pray for peace…

Other than the minor stresses that life has thrown our way, we know it can always be worse. πŸ˜‰ We are loving where we currently live. Salt Lake City and the people here have embraced us like no other. My November goals have been much easier to reach, especially with a smile on my face!!! Let’s see how I fared this month…..

Goal one was to get settled in, unpack, and familiarize myself with the city. Unpacking is never an issue for me. Josh says I am OCD ha ha everything has to be in it’s place immediately. I am all about order and organization. Trust me, this is a great thing ha ha ha. Getting familiar with the city will take me a bit of time. I have taken the train into the city, but the city is SO big and confusing to me ha ha. Josh is a rockstar when it comes to navigating the area. I have to use my GPS he just knows where everything is. you would think he was born and raised here! I did figure out that when it snows and Josh has to take my car to work, that Zoe and I will not be stranded at home. The train station is in front of my apartment complex. Zoe and I can just hop on and take the train right to my gym. No more missing training or having a dangerous and stressful drive in. That is pretty awesome!!!!

Goal two was get back into a routine at the new gym. Gold’s gym here has rebranded to Vasa Fitness. Doesn’t really mean much for me, because all the equipment I use will stay the same πŸ˜‰ I did get into a new routine, however after evaluating my progress so far my hubs and I did some research and decided starting Monday, my training will change quite a bit. I will post my new training on Tuesday, when I post my December goals. I will say, that the people at the gym here have been super friendly. It has been a rather easy change for me. I love this gym and all the new toys ha ha. It’s like an awesome playground just for me!!! Bonus is that Zoe loves the daycare just as much and with all their locations, Josh’s new store has a location right across the street!!!!

Goal three was plan some hikes. We had some great ones planned, but I had not realized that it had snowed as much as it has in the mountains. We are in the Valley and it has been in the 50-60’s here. In the mountains is a complete different story ha ha. I have been doing more research on the area and now know that if we want to get some hikes in soon, we will have to stay on the Wasatch front to avoid the snow, at least until we can get some snow shoes or skis πŸ˜‰ There are so many hikes here, i have a bit of homework to do ha ha ha

Goal four was posing practice. This goal will continue to be on my list. It is something that I can always be improving. Looking at it, you think it is easy, but after being on stage, I realized that I was not able to hold the poses as long as I needed to. Tweaking my form and being able to hold a pose for a long period of time, without looking like it is affecting me, is the goal I will be working on. Looking natural is very important!!!

Goal five was keeping Zoe focused on her lesson plans. This is never a difficult task. She loves learning and is excited to get started every morning!!! Her loving the process is very important to me!!!!

I see November as a very successful month! I am excited to push through December and make it just as amazing!!!! Many things I need to accomplish in the next 6 months and to do those things, I will need to take baby steps.

Happy Monday!!! I am excited as always to get in the gym and kill it!!! Monday and Tuesday are my date training days, since my hubs is off work. We typically train Back on Monday and Delts Tuesday, but with Thanksgiving on Thursday, my gym’s daycare is closed Thursday and Friday. This week Monday will be normal Back day, but Tuesday will be Delts, Bi’s, and Tri’s and Wednesday Legs and Chest. If I know I will miss a day I always try to make up that training. With the holiday having me out of the gym, I may mosey on down to the apartment gym for a little light cardio as well πŸ˜‰

All weekend I have been following several friends who were competing at Nationals and man am I itching to get back on the stage!!!! It really has me motivated this week to train harder. I know that it is going to take years to build the kind of muscle I need to, but I do love pushing my limits every week to see if I can maximize my efforts!!!!

Week 16 Bulking….

weekly check in

Been a chaotic week for us. Stepped up the intensity of my training Monday and Tuesday. We walked the city on Tuesday as well πŸ˜‰ Got to the gym Wednesday morning to find out that the Gold’s gym here is re-branding themselves as Vasa Fitness, so got a late start on my training, because I had to re-fill out paperwork. Then about 1/4 of the way into my bicep training, Josh calls and lets me know his car won’t start. I had to rush home so he wouldn’t be late for work. We stressed hard Wednesday night. I called over 8 places to get quotes on repairs for his car. All were between $600-$1000+ for parts, labor, and towing. Not something anyone wants to deal with right before Christmas. We just moved 3 weeks ago, so money is already tight. We sat down together and prayed. We knew things would work out one way or another. Josh received a text message from a co-worker referring him to a mobile mechanic. We called and the guy said he would be more than willing to do the repair for between $200-$300. WHAT A BLESSING!!!! He came Thursday morning, car was fixed. Costed just over $200!!! Christmas has been saved! Oh how we were so worried that we wouldn’t be able to give Zoe the things she has asked for. GOD IS GREAT!!!!

I weighed in on Thursday and was at 147.8lbs A full 2lbs up from last week. I didn’t freak out, because I know with lack of sleep and stress, my cortisol levels were up. This is why I hate the scale. Many freak out when that number changes just a bit. There are SO many factors as to why your weight will fluctuate. I always stress to take photos and measurements, then look at everything as a whole πŸ˜‰

Yesterday morning I weighed in early and the result was exactly what I thought. I headed into the gym. I had to make up for missing Wednesday, Thursday, and still had Friday’s training to do. I did a full leg training, then hit Bi’s, Tri’s, Delts, and Chest. It was intense to say the least! I am glad I pushed myself though. This offseason is detrimental. I need to beat the old me πŸ˜‰ Zoe has jumped on the posing picture bandwagon ha ha ha. She sits with me and does her lesson time worksheets while I blog. She always insists that her photos be posted along with mine, so……


This week’s numbers are exactly what I had expected them to be. Over the past few weeks I feel as if my body has adjusted and my once bulking calories are now my maintenance. My numbers have stabilized. I am fine with this, because even in maintenance , I can gain some muscle. It is a slower process, but that is fine. I still have a few more months of gaining, so I want it be slower.

How I Ruined My Past Holidays…. #PoweredBySaturnSupplements @SaturnMuscle

Who is ready for Thanksgiving????

I know I am! πŸ˜‰ A couple of years ago, the holidays freaked me out. I spent a lot of time planning how I was going to get through without jeopardizing my progress. It was miserable for me and my family. To put it bluntly I ruined the holidays for myself. I stressed out over eating “bad” foods. I made others stress about what I would or wouldn’t eat. Last year, I had just started flexible dieting. I indulged, but took the time to weigh out everything. It was a nicer holiday, but looking back I wish I would have just taken the day off and enjoyed myself. I personally believe that social media makes us feel guilty for enjoying the holidays. Idiotic posts like these…….

Making us feel guilty for every morsel that we enjoy. Telling us that in order to have that piece of pie we must endure 40 mins of cardio. Come on, this is a day to enjoy with our loved ones. Again, looking back I shake my head at myself in shame. What kind of example was I setting for my daughter? Making her believe that the holidays should be spent like this. Seriously, shame on me!!!! We have but only one life and we all know that the future is not guaranteed. Let’s enjoy the holidays. Of course I don’t mean binge and eat a whole pie with half the turkey, but absolutely HAVE SOME PIE!!!! This holiday I have every intention of enjoying. I will not be tracking my food. Β I will eat till I am full. Most importantly I will enjoy my family. Β I think many of us want to be aesthetically pleasing, to the point we not only punish ourselves, but inadvertently punish our families. I assure you that if you are enjoying yourself for one day, you are NOT going to jeopardize your hard work πŸ˜‰

It’s that time again…….

Week 15 of my bulk. I am finally getting back into the groove of things. The new gym is busier than I am use to, so I have had to change up my routine quite a bit. Which is fine with me! Just means more room to grow πŸ˜‰

The dumbbell area tends to be pretty full on some days and they don’t have as many dumbbells as I think they should. With that being said, it has forced me to try new things as well as PR on others. I normally go up to 40lb db’s on Incline bench, but because both sets were in use I went up to 45lbs. The first try I couldn’t get them up, but I think it was in my head. I hate when people stare, because it messes with me. The guy next to me stopped what he was doing to watch and it took me a few minutes to get my focus back. Once I did though, I kicked them up and pushed out 6 reps. I am super proud of overcoming that!!!!

Another thing that has been different, is the level of soreness I have been feeling. I don’t know if it is from the routine changes, or if it’s the difference in elevation? I have been so much more sore with my training here. It is crazy!!! I hurt everywhere a lot more than normal!

I got that shark week bloat…at least that’s how I feel ha ha ha

I am pretty stoked to see some veins surfacing in my arms. My back is thickening up nicely as well. I have been training my delts and lats twice a week. I do think this has made a huge difference!!! Zoe wanted to pose with me this week and was mad that she was cut out of the pics ha ha so I promised her she would get posted as well πŸ˜›

Lesson Time Fun! The Brain May Not Be A Muscle, But We Work It Like It Is!

I have had a lot of readers asking if I still work with Zoe at home? The answer is yes πŸ˜‰ Sorry I haven’t been posting much about it. I need to remember that this blog is Sports Bras AND Sippy Cups xoxo

We do lesson time for 2-3 hours everyday, Wednesday-Sunday. Typically Mondays and Tuesdays are off for family fun days. Β Monday through Friday she get social time at the gym daycare. They are awesome at the new gym, because she not only gets to play with kids her own age for 90 min, but the teachers actually do stuff with the kids. Little crafts, sing songs, dances, etc. Β At home we also do several activities. For example, on Sunday we did Play-Doh time, this is important for hand eye coordination as well as using her imagination. I also do little follow the direction drills. I have her mold numbers, letters, shapes, etc



Then we did some worksheets. She is currently learning to read, so we will work on at least one word a day. I have her sound it out, write the word, then find it in a story that we read before nap time.


We also worked on her numbers. She is also learning basic math. Typically for that we will use cereal to add and subtract. I also have her constantly write her numbers. This week we are working on 11-20. She also loves to do dot to dots πŸ˜‰



I try to keep things pretty simple, but fun. Some days we do a craft, some days we will go for long walks and I have her do scavenger hunts, we sing, dance, do exercise drills, etc. All depends on my mood ha ha ha. Another great tool she utilizes is * I do not get any kind of kick back, by mentioning them. This is just a website that Zoe loves! We pay full price for it and I have no personal communication with them. I do however think the website is awesome. From day one Zoe has loved the songs and games, as well as the coloring. It is another level of learning for her and gets her familiar with using a computer.

She and I are very excited to start kindergarten next year. We have all the info to start homeschooling her. She has excelled so much in the past year. It is amazing how much she can absorb! Kiddos are like sponges and they love to learn new things!!!! Even though the brain isn’t technically a muscle, we try to work it out like it is Β πŸ˜‰ We both learn something new everyday! For those asking where I get ideas and what not for her lesson time, typically I Google ideas or I use Pinterest. Β There is always a TON of info and great crafts to find! I try to keep it fun as possible. Learning should never feel like a chore. Children thrive when everything is made fun πŸ˜‰ Whether you send your kids to school or no,t I strongly recommend having at least an hour a day where you take the time to bond with your child and show them something new.

There was a time when I thought what I was, what I had, and who I surrounded myself with was my life. I thought it would never get any better. I knew that I was far from happy. I had just become complacent. I settled… I settled for lost dreams, people who didn’t care, I relied on alcohol and drugs to make me happy. I wasn’t living, I was dying. I now know that you never have to settle! This life is meant to be lived to the fullest. Live to be happy, to love, to achieve your dreams, to change, to learn new things, just live!!!! Bulking Week 14 Check-In

It’s been over 2 weeks since I did a check-in and 3 weeks since I weighed in. After taking almost a full week off from the gym and not tracking my macros and eating whatever ha ha ha I will not lie, I was a little worried. Okay, okay I was kind of freaking out……

Getting back into a routine was harder than I thought it was going to be. The drive here was fun, but we spent about a week and a half sleeping on floors, air mattresses, and hotel mattress (one was awesome though). We were all super tired from not enough sleep. We all had been on a junk food diet and were really feeling it!!! Then of course we all felt the effects from moving to a higher elevation. At first we all felt fine, then we noticed we were all more tired than normal, got winded very easy, I got dizzy a lot, and all of us got quite bloated. Granted, part of that could have been diet related πŸ˜‰ To be honest, I hadn’t even thought about the elevation affecting us, till after someone mentioned it. Luckily, we all had a very minor case of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Zoe seemed good after a day. I think Josh and I felt worse, because we weren’t resting enough.

The moving of all of our boxes and furniture into our apartment was much more strenuous than we thought it would be. The air was hard to breathe going up and down the stairs to our 3rd floor apartment. We were also rushed. The apartment complex wasn’t really keen on us taking up so many parking spaces with moving PODS, so we knew we had to hustle to get it done. We have moved so many times in the past and have always been very fast and efficient when it came to loading and unloading, but this time was most certainly different. By the end our whole bodies were tanked. My calves are STILL sore and we moved everything in on Tuesday. Josh and I compared it to carrying 40+lbs for 3 hours on a stepmill. It was seriously intense!!!! Of course, me being stubborn, I still went to the gym to train ha ha ha. Training was hard this week, because like I said, I am super sore, but also because I do still get winded easy. It has been getting better. One of the trainers at the gym said it will probably take a month or so before my body completely adjusts. Hopefully sooner than later ha ha ha

*As always, I do the calipers just to keep a record. They are NOT accurate at ALL!!!! If I had to guess where I was I would say between 20-25% bodyfat*

Overall, I am very happy with my progress. I am still enjoying all the food. I am also excited to get back into a normal routine at the new gym!!!

Detour Smart Bar Review @DetourBar

*This is a product review for Detour Bar. I was sent a box of their product to try out and give my honest opinion.*

Been a super exciting week! You all know we have just moved to Salt Lake City πŸ˜‰ When we arrived, I already had a package waiting for me. Detour BarΒ had sent me their newest Smart Bar, Peanut Butter Chocolate.


If you have followed me for a while, you already know that I am a HUGE fan of Detour Bars. Especially their Smart Bars!!! In my opinion, the Smart Bars, not only taste really good, but they have the perfect macro set up for a quick snack. Low carbs, low fat, decent protein, and FIBER!!! I have to hit 30 grams of Fiber a day, so every little bit counts!


The flavor of these awesome! More Peanut Butter than Chocolate. There are tiny chocolate bits, but you don’t get a huge kick of chocolate from them. I LOVE Peanut Butter, so these are by far my favorite Smart Bars yet! They are small, so great for on the go. I love to pack them in my gym bag for Zoe and I to snack on post workout, or when we have a bunch of running to do.


Like all the other Smart Bars, these have the Greek Yogurt drizzle. Zoe thinks it’s icing, and I will let her keep thinking that πŸ˜‰


The true test to whether we will buy these bars on the regular is always the Zoe test. So far, her favorite Smart Bars have been the Blueberry…….


But after trying these, I may have to start adding the Peanut Butter Chocolate ones to the grocery list too! She LOVED them!!!!

November Goals

I am excited as always to start a new month! This month’s theme for me will be less stress. The past few months have been so crazy and going into the unknown. My mind is ready for a break! I will be staying strong on my bulk. After all I have less than a year now to build and cut back down, so I need to optimize my time the best that I possibly can. My goals this month will focus not only on my training for next year’s competition, but also on trying to get back to my mellow self πŸ˜‰

Goal One…To get settled in and familiar with our new surroundings. Getting unpacked and figuring out a new place for our stuff will be something I want to get done right away. The faster I can make the new place feel like home, the better! I also need to get out and drive around so I can familiarize myself with the city. Salt Lake is a big city, so it will take some time to get use to the hustle and bustle. Springfield, was much more slow compared to here. The great thing is our apartment is next to Trax station, so we can take the train just about anywhere! Zoe is pretty excited about that ha ha ha.

Goal Two…Get back into a good routine at the gym. New gym means new surroundings, new people, and new equipment. It typically takes me a couple of weeks to get back into my groove. This will be important to do as fast as I can! I do not want to lose anymore training days than I already have. Doesn’t help that my lungs aren’t so friendly with this mountain air ha ha ha I tend to get short of breath pretty fast when training, so hopefully I adjust pretty fast with that too.

Goal Three….Plan some hikes. Zoe has been so excited about hiking here, so I definitely want us to get out and explore some of the popular hikes before it gets too cold. I am sure we will still hike in the winter, but I would like to get a few in before the snow hits πŸ˜‰ There are some with hot springs and I think Zoe will get a kick out of a quick soak while it’s cold out!

Goal Four…Posing practice. Told you this one would be back on the list πŸ˜‰ My posing is as imperative to my training as my diet and weight lifting. It is how I will showcase my work. Now that I know how long I may have to hold the poses, as well as what the judges are looking for, will make this year much easier! Having everything spot on and ready to go by show day is important. We all know the best way to do that is practice practice practice!

Goal Five…Keeping Zoe focused on her lessons and goals. She does pretty well with this on her own πŸ˜‰ I do like to have her curriculum ready and with the move we are slacking a bit right now. Most of it is still packed and we are anxiously awaiting it’s arrival, but as soon as our stuff gets here and we get unpacked, that will be one of the first things I do!!!

Happy Happy Monday

I am more than excited to get this week started!!!! We get our belongings either today or tomorrow. I am SO ready to have our stuff and get unpacked. We desperately need to get settled in ha ha ha ha.

This week is all about getting back on track and into a routine for me. I am feeling good about my new gym. A little intimidated, but I love starting new and challenging myself. Happy Monday folks! Let’s do this!!!!

Moving In, Getting Back On Track, & The October Goal Check-In @SaturnMuscle

Finally made it to Salt Lake City, Utah!!! It was a beautiful but very LONG drive!!!! Luckily very little traffic, not to mention Zoe and Charlie did awesome! I kept her busy with scavenger hunts, like looking for certain color cars, bridges, bikes, semis, etc. She had lots of worksheets. I let her do bodyart. She had dry erase markers to color on the windows, a ton of stickers, and of course her Leappad to play. We brought a leash for Charlie, so when we stopped he could stretch his legs. He has adapted quite well to the trip and our new apartment. The trip from Missouri to Utah took us 2 days, about 12 hours each day. Lots of stops with a 4 year old in tow ha ha, but less than we actually thought we would need. Our furniture doesn’t actually arrive till Tuesday, so moving in isn’t technically over ha ha ha, but the hard part is done! Here are some fun pics of the trip and our new place…








We adore the apartment! It is on the third floor which will take some getting use to, not to mention the mountain air tends to leave Josh and I a bit breathless at times. However the views from our balcony make it all worth it!!!! We were a little nervous about if we would like the apartment, since we were going in blind, so to speak. Neither of us had seen it in person, just online. So, very pleased that they represented themselves honestly! Everyone here has been SO nice! Far cry from the personalities we know and met in Missouri. Everyone here seems genuinely happy. Our travel days had me on a less than stellar diet and I went a week without training. By the time we got here I felt horrible and looked it as well. Swollen everywhere and feeling quite lazy and negative about myself.

The obvious thing to do was get to the grocery store to get my diet back on track, then start shopping for a new gym. I had actually already picked a place online before we moved. There is a Gold’s Gym less than 2 miles from our apartment which is perfect. They have all the equipment I could want or need plus many more amenities I didn’t have before! The daycare is AWESOME too it’s huge and always full of kiddos. Zoe got stuck with babies a lot at the other daycares in Missouri, plus not all the teachers were very active with the kids, so if she was the only older one she would get bored. Here she does crafts, socializes, has little exercise classes, sings and dances. Lots of fun to be had!!! I won’t lie, it is always intimidating to start a new gym. You have to get familiar with the equipment, people, and get back into you focused training mode. I was very comfortable where I was before. I was use to training alone most days and now I am in a pretty busy gym. I will say that it has a lot of women who weight train, which is an awesome thing too!!!! I think once I get back into a routine, I will love it there πŸ˜‰

Despite the move, my goals did not fall to the wayside. I did my best to keep up with them. Let’s see how I fared….

Goal 1 was to just enjoy Josh and my birthdays. I think we did this without a hitch ha ha ha I haven’t been too worried about going off diet a little here or there. I know my body as well as what I need to do to lose bodyfat when the time comes. We both had very happy birthdays xoxo

Goal 2 was to get the house packed. Obviously this was done with a vengeance ha ha ha ha I had about 3 weeks to get everything done. Our stuff left a week before we did. Luckily I am an expert mover now ha ha ha ha We chose to send our stuff with U-Haul pods and both drive our own cars. I am so happy we did it this way, because there were some parts of the drive that would have been nerve wreaking driving a 17+ft truck hauling a car behind it. We have become quite good at this moving thing πŸ˜‰ As far as the question of if we will be staying here? That is to be determined…Josh is still working towards a promotion. Most likely will mean that we will be moving again, but we will be here for at least a year πŸ˜‰

Goal 3 Was face the fluff. Basically, quit letting it get to me. I can’t say I entirely aced this goal. Like I said at the beginning, I am quite fluffy from my trip. Granted some of that is water weight and what not, but I did allow it to affect me. I know that this is something I still need to work on πŸ˜‰ I am always a work in progress. Being between 17-20% bodyfat is by no means overweight, I just got use to those lower numbers ha ha ha

Goal 4 was to keep Zoe on track with her goals. She actually aced her goals a week early ha ha ha She is an awesome overachiever!!!! I was super proud that everyone we have met has commented on how articulate she is and how incredibly advanced she is for a 4 year old.

Goal 5 was to hit a PR on at least one exercise for each body part each week. I actually rocked this! I am getting much stronger this year!!!

Goal 6 Was to keep the main focus on my back and delts. This is something I will continue to do. I am seeing some awesome results and believe that I have made some huge strides in these areas.


Goal 7 is posing posing posing. This was something I started the month off strong with, but with the move I allowed myself to get lazy and stop. You can guarantee you will see this back on this month’s goal list!


I am pleased with what I did accomplish this month considering the chaos that is life πŸ˜‰ We should be settled in within the next week or so and routines will get back to normal. This is an exciting time in our lives and we are living this life to it’s fullest!!!!
