Motivation Monday! Who’s Ready To Make Some Changes? #PoweredBySaturnSupplements @SaturnMuscle

Many look at Monday in a negative light. This makes the start of your week harder to get going. When you start on a positive note, it makes the rest of the week a breeze!!!

This week marks me at 19 weeks out from my competition. I felt more bloated than last week, which is strange since last week was shark week ha ha ha.

This week My macros have been lowered a bit, but I am still eating a ton. None of my training has changed. I am training my legs, back, and arms, 2 times a week. My chest and abs 1 time a week and my delts 3 times a week. I am also completing 15 mins of HIIT on the treadmill (this includes warm up and cool down) 3 times a week. Hoping to see some great changes this week!

Most of you have been smashing your goals! My clients have all been on top of their game and seeing phenomenal results!!! I am so very proud of each and every one of you!!! This week, keep focused on the positive changes you have already made and visualize the changes you are getting ready to make. Let’s start this week strong!!! It’s Monday! Let’s Do This!!! #PoweredBySaturnSupplements @SaturnMuscle

Happy Monday!!!

Last week was chaotic to say the least! Starting Sunday night, Zoe started having a fever that got as high as 103.5 and did not break till late Monday night. We know it was caused by her vaccinations, but scary either way. I decided to just train at the apartment gym all week, to allow her to get rest at home. I also had the daunting task of making her birthday cake. I started it on Monday, which was a ridiculous task since Zoe was still sick. To boot our AC was on the fritz and with the oven on all day our apartment got ridiculously hot. Not good for a kiddo already running a high temp. Finally got that fixed and her cake was done on Tuesday.Wednesday we spent resting together. Thursday we headed out to Circus Circus to celebrate her birthday. We took her to the Adventuredome to ride coll rides, headed to the Midway for circus acts and games, In-N-Out Burger for dinner, and then home for cake. It was blast!!! Even got to see a dear friend who was here in Vegas visiting.

Friday I was back on track and Saturday started my contest prep. Last off season, I gained 60lbs. I am much happier this year. I only gained 25. It will make my contest prep much easier and a lot less stressful. I have a different plan for my diet and training this year and we will see if it pans out. Every year is a learning experience. I have been trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t as far as contest prep shredding goes ha ha. I feel I have a better knowledge this year of what I need to do, so I am going to try out what I think will work and see what happens. My goal this year is to get Nationally Qualified. It was close last year, but not close enough. I know what I want and I am willing to put in the work to get there! This is my 20 weeks out starting point and I am happy with it!

Woo Hoo It’s Monday!!! Getting Ready For Contest Prep! Let The Games Begin!!! #PoweredBySaturnSupplements @SaturnMuscle

I am always excited to start a new week! Monday means it’s a new start to smash new goals and improve on what you couldn’t the week before.

This is officially my last week of off season. Also Zoe’s birthday week. Last year I did not get to eat any of Zoe’s delicious cake, till after my contest in November. At that time I had planned on competing in Salt Lake City in October, thus my prep had started sooner. Not to mention I was carrying quite a bit more body fat than this year. I am so happy that this year I will get to sit down with the family and enjoy her birthday before my prep starts! Let me tell you, it is HARD to make cake and not lick spoons ha ha ha ha. Her birthday is on the 16th, my prep starts on the 18th. This will give me a day in between to get refocused on the task at hand. As stoked as I am for birthday cake, I am just as stoked for my prep to begin!!! New prep means new plan. I am still on a learning curve. I know what mistakes I made last year and what improvements I need to make this year. I have a new game plan and I am coming full force!!! I AM READY!!! Let the games begin 😉

SBSC Fit Tips: Protein Myths #PoweredBySaturnSupplements @SaturnMuscle

 

Protein is one of my favorite macros.

Protein keeps you fuller longer which is great when dieting, it is the body’s building block for healthier hair, skin, & nails, as well as the building block to grow lean muscle. It’s required for your body’s structure, function, and regulation of your body’s  tissues and organs. Some studies have even showed that whey protein helps prevent cancer and reduces stress. Even with all the positive information you an find about protein, there are still myths floating around that are far from the truth. I am here to bust those myths.

Myth One ~ Protein destroys your kidneys. I probably hear this one the most. Especially when people know how much protein I actually eat. As I have already stated, protein is the building block of every living cell in your body. The more physically active you are, the more your body requires. Some say that the kidneys are strained from the metabolites in protein. Your kidneys are ALWAYS stressed. It’s their job. If you have a pre-existing kidney issue, then yes a high protein diet can possibly be harmful. However, if you have healthy kidneys, then there is and will be no issues. There have been NO studies showing harmful effects of protein in anyone with healthy kidney function. The two main risk factors for kidney failure are high blood pressure (hypertension) and diabetes. A higher protein intake improves both.

Myth Two ~ Protein weakens your bones. There is a theory that protein increases the acid in your body, so to counteract the process your body pulls calcium from your bones to neutralize it. This too is untrue. Several published studies showed that increased protein intake in fact did not harm the bones. If anything they showed that increased protein improved bone health.

Myth Three ~ Too much protein will make you gain weight. This one is true, to an extent. Science says, that eating in surplus will make you gain fat. If you are eating protein in excess and weight training, then your body will begin to grow muscle. Muscle is more dense than fat, so yes you can in theory gain weight. It doesn’t necessarily mean you are gaining fat. Have more lean muscle actually helps you burn more calories throughout the day.

Myth Four ~ Whey Protein is linked to steroids. This one always makes me giggle. Saying whey protein is linked somehow to steroids, is like saying the grilled chicken breast sandwich you is going to turn you into Arnold. Whey protein is a food item. It is created in the cheese making process, then dried into powder. It is one of the healthiest ways to consume protein. It is in my opinion, one of the greatest inventions! When choosing a protein powder, I always recommend doing your homework. Many companies add fillers and random junk to their proteins. Look for a trusted company with quality protein. Several new faces logging in this morning 🙂 Welcome to Team SBSC! It’s our favorite day…

Monday!!!

We all have different goals and different ambitions. One common thing we all have is the desire to love ourselves more. Take time out this morning to look at yourself full face to face in the mirror and compliment yourself on one thing. Big or small, find one thing you love about yourself. Do this everyday. Changing your mindset about how you view yourself will help you see improvements faster! We all are guilty of finding the negative when we look in the mirror. We all are WAY too critical of ourselves. It’s time to change that!

This week I am officially 22 weeks out from my next competition. I have started to reduce calories. Luckily this year I didn’t gain a crazy amount of fat. I am only up 20lbs from my last competition. That is huge, because last year I gained near 60 lol. You will notice as competition draws closer I get even more motivated. I am pumped to compete this year and have a goal of getting Nationally Qualified. I DO plan on achieving that this year!!!

My June Goals #NeverSettle #SmallGoalsToAchieveHugeDreams

Apparently I am absentminded, because I totally didn’t post my May goals. Whoops…

Well, I am not forgetting to post my June goals!!!

June is one of the busiest months for me every year. Zoe’s birthday is this month. If you have been following me for a while, you know this is always a very big deal ha ha ha. I always go over and beyond with her cake. This year we were originally planning a surprise Disney trip, but the hubs company revised their payroll and it was not in our favor. Needless to say, we had to have a change of plans. We decided to stay local. Living in Vegas means there are a ton of things to choose from. Knowing that Zoe wants to check out a theme park, we decided to stay with that theme. We are surprising her with a trip to the Adventure Dome at Circus Circus. It’s no Disneyland, but it will still be a blast!!! I also start prep this month. I will officially be 20 weeks out on the 18th. This is perfect, because Zoe’s birthday is on the 16th. Yay for cake!!!

Enough chit chat, let’s get to these goals shall we…

Goal One ~ Design And Make Zoe’s Birthday Cake ~ This is always a fun goal for me. I love to bake and to decorate cakes. I have an idea of what I want to do already. I just need to go buy supplies and get it started. It is usually a 2-3 day process. This year’s cake will be a bit more difficult, because we are using the cake as the main clue to the surprise, so her not seeing it is very important. I may ask our apartment office if I can decorate the cake in the clubhouse kitchen. Hmmm… either way, we love surprising her!!!

Goal Two ~ Plan And Execute Contest Prep ~ I was discussing the need to do this the other day with someone and they were surprised that so much planning goes into my preps. I would imagine a lot of planning goes into everyone who competes, contest prep. This prep will be nothing like the last two I have done. I am evolving in this sport. I have learned a lot since last year and there will be things that I try this year to try to bring a better physique to the stage. I would imagine that every year’s prep is going to differ in many ways. You grow not only physically, but mentally as well and that takes each prep to another level. This year my main focus is keeping my size and getting my lower half to lean out enough. My legs not being lean enough was my downfall last year. I am determined to not make the same mistake again. I also started with a lot more body fat last year. Although I am not contest lean, I have managed to stay much leaner this off season. I am so excited to get this prep started!!!

Goal Three ~ Finish Stoning My Competition Suit ~ I have put a lot of time into designing my suit for this year. Originally I had planned to make the suit myself, but I did that last year and it was very time consuming and I still had the suit too big. I found a fabulous suit designer, who was more than willing to make the suit to the specific specs that I wanted. I ordered a plain mint green suit through Saleyla. She did a fabulous job and it is exactly what I wanted. I ordered 2700 crystals and got started on my suit. I have changed the design on the front bottoms twice now ha ha, but they are finally almost done. I ran out of stones when I started my top, so had to place another order and am waiting for them to arrive so I can finish what I started. I am over joyed with what I have so far. Last year I had one of the less blingy suits on stage. I should have known better. This IS Las Vegas ha ha. Everything in this city is over the top and blingy 😉 This year I have definitely up’ed my game. My suit will have over 3000 stones on it. Pretty sure I will shine bright like a diamond xo This is what I have done so far…. (front of bottoms not shown, due to it is in the process of being redone again)

Goal Four ~ Posing Practice ~ I’m happy to say after two years of competing, I am finally coming into my own with my posing. It has been such a struggle. When you are posing, sometimes it feels like you are doing the right thing, then you watch your videos and you are like wait….what is going on!?!? I have spent so much time and effort into perfecting my poses. Trust me when I say, it looks much easier than it actually is! Learning to be graceful while transitioning from pose to pose, that has been my greatest struggle as of late, but I am getting it! I practice every single day and will continue to!

Goal Five ~ Continue Growing Team SBSC ~ I have made such awesome relationships over the past few months. I have several clients who are just doing SO phenomenal! Their progress astonishes me and I have never been so proud!!! It is such an awesome feeling to see so many turn their lives around. Living healthier and happier lives. My clients mean the world to me and to be able to stay home with Zoe while helping others has been the greatest blessing!!! Not all my clients are ready to show the world their results….YET 😉
